These terms are an agreement between you and Kaninee Technologies Inc., 25 Dalzell Ave, Brampton, Ontario L6Z 1H1, Canada ("we", "us"), for the use of the SovTalk apps and services ("SovTalk"). By using SovTalk, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy.
01Who can use SovTalk
You must be at least 16 years old. You must be able to accept these terms under the law where you live and not be barred from using SovTalk.
02Your account and your key
Your account is a key pair created on your phone. Your secret key is your account: anyone who has it can use your account, and nobody, including us, can recover it if you lose it. Back it up and keep it private. You're responsible for what's done with your key.
03Your content
You keep ownership of what you post and send. Posts and profile information are public: by publishing them, you allow us to store, copy and distribute them as needed to run SovTalk, and you understand that SovTalk uses an open protocol, so other apps and people can read and copy them. Messages are end-to-end encrypted between you and your friends.
You're responsible for your content and must have the right to share it.
04Acceptable use
Don't use SovTalk to:
- share child sexual abuse material or sexualise minors in any way. We have zero tolerance: accounts are banned and we report it to the authorities;
- harass, threaten, bully or incite violence or hatred against anyone;
- share someone's private information or intimate images without their consent;
- impersonate others, spam, scam or deceive people;
- break the law, infringe others' rights, or promote terrorism or violent extremism;
- interfere with SovTalk, its servers or other people's use of it, or try to access what you're not allowed to.
05Reports and moderation
You can report posts and people in the app. We review reports and may remove public content, refuse it on our servers or ban accounts that break these terms or the law. We can't read encrypted messages unless a participant reports them and chooses to include them. If you think we made a mistake, write to support@kaninee.com.
06Sponsored posts
SovTalk may show clearly labelled sponsored posts from local businesses. Sponsors don't receive any information about you.
07On-device AI
Writing suggestions are made by an AI model on your phone and may be wrong. Review them before using them. Posts written with a suggestion carry an "AI-assisted" label.
08Calls
SovTalk calls aren't a replacement for a phone service and can't be used to reach emergency services.
09Changes and availability
SovTalk is under active development. We may change, suspend or stop features, and we'll give notice of significant changes when we reasonably can. We don't promise SovTalk will always be available or error-free.
10Ending your use
You can stop using SovTalk at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or ban an account that breaks these terms or the law.
11Disclaimers and liability
SovTalk is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, for content posted by others, or for the loss of a secret key you didn't back up. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that can't be waived, including, for residents of Québec, the Consumer Protection Act.
12Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live elsewhere, you also keep the protections of the laws where you live that can't be set aside by agreement.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll show the new date at the top and tell you in the app before significant changes take effect. If you keep using SovTalk after that, the new terms apply.
